PlaneTree Health Information Center @ the Cupertino Library
If you have in-depth health or medical questions, you can visit the PlaneTree Health Information Center to get expert help in finding trustworthy information that meets your individual needs.
Open to all members of the public, the Center's free services are provided by health information specialists and knowledgeable volunteers of PlaneTree, an independent, nonprofit service over 22 years of experience assisting community members. Visit in person or contact PlaneTree Health Information Center staff by phone at 408-446-1677 ext. 3350 or via email at reference@planetree-sccl.org.
You will find the PlaneTree Health Information Center in a pleasant, private room inside the Cupertino Library, on the second floor in the hallway behind the elevator. We are open -
Tuesday 4-8 p.m.
Wednesday 10-2 p.m.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday 2-6 p.m.
You can stop in when the Center is open or call ahead to make an appointment. Staff and volunteers will be happy to help you:

- search our online databases quickly and effectively
- search our catalog and print resources for more information about a medical condition

Library Databases and E-books
- A.D.A.M Health Resources for Libraries Public Edition *
This database provides reports on the most common diseases and wellness issues. Each report is an in-depth discussion of the latest information on treatments, risk factors, causes, diagnostic tests, and preventative measures. A full illustrated medical encyclopedia and a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) resource library are also included. System requirements: Adobe Flash Player 10.
- Alt HealthWatch*
This database focuses on the many perspectives of complementary,
holistic and integrated approaches to health care and
wellness. It offers full text articles for more than
180 international, and often peer-reviewed journals
and reports. In addition, there are hundreds of pamphlets,
booklets, special reports, original research, and book
excerpts.
- Consumer
Health Complete*
This full text database is designed to support patients'
information needs and foster an overall understanding
of health-related topics. It provides content covering
all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine
to the many perspectives of complementary, holistic,
and integrated medicine.
- MedlinePlus*
Provides consumer health information from the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health as well as other health related sites. It includes health news, drug information, a medical encyclopedia and access to medical journal articles.
- Red Cross Online Handbooks
Read and browse a selection of online handbooks and manuals published by the Red Cross about first aid, lifesaving, babysitting, CPR and more.

en Espanol*
Salud en Espanol provee reportes completos basados
en evidencias y fichas de datos relacionados a todos
los aspectos de la salud y el bienestar. Reportes específicos
por tema que cubren todos los aspectos de la salud,
dan informacion general importante en relacion a enfermedades,
afecciones y procedimientos de diversos tratamientos.
(Salud en Espanol provides comprehensive evidence-based
reports and fact sheets in Spanish on all aspects of
consumer health and wellness. Topic specific reports
covering all aspects of health offer valuable overviews
on diseases, conditions, procedures and various treatments.
The content found in this database includes a diverse
collection of health related themes: first aid, infant/child
care and illnesses, alternative medicine, aging and
wellness).
- Salem Health*
Electronic access to articles on diseases, disorders, treatments, procedures, specialties, anatomy, biology, and medical issues. Also contains photographs and illustrations. This electronic resource includes the entire content of Magill's Medical Guide.
